"My Left Foot" (1989)
Directed by Jim Sheridan, "My Left Foot" is based on the life of Christy Brown, an Irish artist incapacitated by cerebral palsy who writes novels and poetry with his left foot, the only limb he can control. Daniel Day-Lewis won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the lead role in the film, based on Brown's autobiography.
