Boulder music teacher facing child sex assault charges
BOULDER, Colo. -- A private music teacher in Boulder faces charges for allegedly molesting a young female student.

Brian Trumble, 51, surrendered to authorities at the Boulder County jail Thursday and was later released on a $20,000 bond.

He faces one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust with a pattern of sexual abuse, and one count of sexual assault by a person in a position of trust, both felonies.

The alleged victim is 15 years old.

“The investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office determined that the victim had been taking music lessons from Mr. Trumble for the past six years,” said Boulder Sheriff’s Commander Rick Brough. “Starting in approximately January 2011 Mr. Trumble began touching the victim in an inappropriate manner, which led to the sexual assault charges.”

Brough said the alleged victim’s parents contacted the Sheriff’s Office, prompting the investigation.

Trumble had been employed by the Boulder Valley School District from August 2009 to October 2010 as a substitute teacher.
